General comments

The internet servers automatically create so-called log files that help to draw conclusions on user behaviour and document    access numbers of an internet page using suitable evaluation programs.

The frequency of a page (vacation, holiday seasons) as well as the evaluation of these numbers are subject to certain fluctuations and unpredictabilities. At best the page operator takes the highest access results and extrapolates them for instance for a certain time frame (therefore ChemLin can expect a total of 4 million visitors to access it's page in 2004).

At this stage we are therefore working with statistical averages which show a certain tendency. The numbers up until June 2004 were taken into account.

Visitor / ChemLin User

At the moment more than 100.000 visitors per month use ChemLin as an information medium and entry portal (maximum: 130.000 in June 2003) on a regular basis; the trend corresponds with the page calls.

The visitors of ChemLin are exclusively those persons of all areas occupied with chemistry and the related science fields. Because of the information content and by avoiding measures leading those "uninterested" to our pages, the number of "specialist visitors" is at nearly 100 %.

Excursus: Advantages for your marketing measures

The advantages of marketing measures in a specific medium like ChemLin is especially visible by comparing with respective measures in general or printed media:

Take for instance the spread losses, the duration and the cost for a product introduction (for example of laboratory equipment, chemical products etc.)  or of a job offer in a general medium. Normally a generously estimated 10 % of the readers belong to your target group. In our case this means: Through an advertising campaign in ChemLin you can reach the same number of potential buyers as in a general medium with a circulation of 450.000 copies at a fraction of the cost over a much longer period of time.
